Birch Forest, Early Spring
Acrylic on Canvas 42”x 60”x 1.5”
Imagine walking through this forest, following an obscure, overgrown trail from the parking lot to a hidden cottage and coming out into a clearing with this view on the way. There is no road, but you will find a boat which will carry you back to the government dock, where you can load your gear, drive it back to the cottage and begin the weekend of opening for the summer days to come. Freshness, new beginnings, smells of the leafy forest floor and memories of past summers anticipate this new season.
I was able to slip away from others for some moments with my birch panel and oil paint for a plein air sketch, which translated later into this larger acrylic painting.
