An Odd Lighting Sort of Day

$350.00

Oil on Panel, framed 12”x 12”

Imagine yourself on a new hiking trail that you have never explored before. There is so much to see! Except that you are laden down with painting gear. French easels are heavy and not designed to be carried over long distances If only you had a knapsack designed to carry it comfortably on your back! So much for exploring this time. On this occasion, the only solution is to lug the easel into the nearest snow bank and start painting whatever is in front of you.

Actually, that is probably the best way to save time and begin to discover what is there. At first, I was distraught at not being able to wander freely, unencumbered. It seemed dull, with weird lighting and not at all what I thought I was looking for. But as I painted, the view opened up its secrets for me. A bit raw, yet soft, it grew on me and now it is one of my favourites.
