After several days of studio painting it was time for a backpacking hike on the Escarpment: 20 minutes in to the falls, mostly uphill, some trepidation and a decision to tackle the painting; 20 minutes later one happy hiker made a quick descent to the parking lot, blood circulating, fingers and toes warming up again.

Exhilaration!

That’s the plein air experience!
